ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR WWW.SCCRC.CO.UK
The Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.sccrc.co.uk. This website is run by the SCCRC, developed and maintained by Yell.com.

COMPLIANCE STATUS

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

NON-ACCESSIBILE CONTENT

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

(a) non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

·        WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard – some buttons are not accessible using the keyboard.

·        WCAG 1.4.4 Resize Text – some elements do not allow text resizing without loss of some functionality.

·        WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow – the website does not support reflow and some elements are difficult to navigate when text is resized significantly.

Discussions with our website host have confirmed that these specific elements cannot be fully resolved because of existing platform limitations. We therefore plan to explore alternative/updated host platforms so that these areas of non-compliance can be addressed. This will likely entail a complete website redesign which we will investigate, subject to affordability, and take forward by 31 August 2024. This would however ensure that all non-compliance points could be adequately resolved along with current good-practice points.

CONTENT THAT’S NOT WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE ACCESSIBILITY REGULATIONS

The SCCRC website is primarily an information and archive site and as such contains a high number of historic PDF documents – many of these are however fully accessible.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix any of these documents published before 23 September 2018. However, we plan on reviewing and updating these documents as part of a wider website review as well as considering the accessibility of current PDF materials. We aim to conclude this review by 31 December 2024.

PREPARATION OF THIS ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This statement was initially prepared and published on 23 September 2020. It was subsequently reviewed, updated and re-published on 11 January 2024.

The website was subject to an accessibility audit by the Government Digital Service Team in September 2023, which identified a number of compliance points. Any outstanding points are detailed above.

Following this accessibility audit a further review of the website was undertaken by Yell.com, using Silktide analytical tools, with updates to the website being undertaken in December 2023.
